Social Responsibility
In 1996 staff and clients of Reservations Africa started delivering school supplies to a makeshift preschool in a rural community called Lillydale B, which borders the Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve. By 2001 we committed to building a new preschool for the community. May 16, 2002 we officially opened Mazinyane Preschool and welcomed about 120 children. Since then, the enrollment has grown to over 400 children.
We are responsible for staff salaries, monthly hydro bill, maintenance, construction and improvements. Over CAD500 000.00 has been spent on this project since 2001.
In 2011, we opened our second preschool in a rural community called Mbazwana, which is on the outskirts of Sodwana Bay, Kwa Zulu Natal. Currently there are 150 children and a staff of 2. To date CAD82000.00 has been spent on this project.
In 2004 we formed a registered charity called African Preschools Society. We are extremely proud of the fact that 100% of all donations go directly to the projects. There are no administrative fees, or travel expenses paid by the charity.
If you book a trip with Reservations Africa, a portion of the cost of your trip goes to the charity. If your trip includes a visit to either area, we will gladly arrange a tour to visit one of the schools.
